*Legion: The Final Exorcism* from Synapse FilmsLEGION: THE FINAL EXORCISM stars David Heavener as ex-priest Michael San Chica, whose investigations into demonic possessions have made him an outcast amongst his peers. Ariel Teal Toombs (from Shut Up and Shoot!; c-star Roddy Piper is her daddy!) plays Tatiana McMurter, a girl from a strict Baptist family who is questioning her sanity. As the dramatic events in Tatiana's life prove to be associated with possession, it becomes obvious to Tatiana's mother that they are in desperate need of help from Michael San Chica.

Before even meeting Tatiana, Michael experiences odd waking dreams, festering old wounds that may be related to the possession of the girl. Their connection is obvious as the demon possession progresses and Michael recognizes the demon as one he has fought before. For the sake of the living and the dead, this demon will be sent to hell.this business is personal!

Written, directed, and produced by Heavener, LEGION: THE FINAL EXORCISM holds its own against other minor films in this genre. The graphics and sound effects add the essential bloodcurdling factor that all horror films, though not all the special effects are top-notch and come across as more comical than horrifying.

Heavener uses a journalist's notebook narrative style to push the storyline along and as the film proceeds through its sequences, ties the loose ends together, and attempts to build up the other characters. For what it's worth, the narrative style works, but the remaining actors are handed sub-par sequences to play out and leave much to be desired. The poor acting is the most devastating aspect of this film as its credibility is quickly lost within the first few scenes.
