College Road Trip is a decent family movie that the kids will definitely enjoy. It's along the same style of humor as Are We There Yet? ? and similar shows. Raven-Symone is a high point and has widespread appeal due to her popular Disney Channel series.
High achiever Melanie Porter (Raven-Symone) is excited to graduate from high school and thrilled to learn that she might have a shot to attend Georgetown, her college of choice where she has been wait-listed. Her over-protective police officer father, James (Martin Lawrence), is set on Melanie attending Northwestern, only 40 minutes from home, rather than all the way across the country. James circumvents Melanie's plans to drive to Georgetown with friends for the interview and plans a "daddy-daughter" college tour road trip. This doesn't exactly go as planned when Melanie's younger brother, Trey (Eshaya Draper), and the family's pet pig, Albert, stow away on the trip. Melanie and crew tour many universities and just might not make it to Georgetown in time for her interview.
College Road Trip, while mildly entertaining, isn't overly appealing. It's sad to say that the absolute funniest moments of the movie are when Albert the pig is onscreen doing his thing. The rest of the movie has a very recycled, been-there-done-that feel that every similar movie with children trying to leave the nest and overprotective parents trying to keep them there have already done a million times over (Father of the Bride , anyone? Much better.).

One major positive is that this movie is rated G. Like I said earlier, everyone in the family can watch it, and younger children might be more entertained than older children. My own kids (ages 8 and 9) loved Albert and thought the movie was decent. My daughter enjoyed Raven-Symone's singing, as she always does. But they admitted this wasn't one they would watch over and over like many of their other movies.
