Colin and Brad: Two Man Group - improv comedy DVDIf you're familiar with Whose Line Is It Anyway? (either the UK or the US version), you're familiar with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. Now they've teamed to bring this hilarious improv premise to live theatre audiences - and to you on DVD with Colin & Brad: Two Man Group (either the UK or the US version), you're familiar with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood.

Colin and Brad set out to convince everyone in the audience that improv is not pre-planned. They achieve this goal by involving the audience heavily in the decisions as to what they perform.

Colin and Brad do some of the old favorites from Whose Line..., including "Moving Bodies," wherein audience members move Colin and Brad to match the dialog they concoct. They play the "Sound Effects Game" with audience members who try their best to produce sound effects to match the action Colin and Brad devise. Colin and Brad perform a Q&A bit as The Love Doctor, each speaking every other word to answer audience love questions (kind of like the "Three-Headed Opera Singer" bit from Whose Line..., but with two heads and no singing).

I truly miss Whose Line (I can't believe it only ran 18 seasons before being snuffed out). Brad and Colin keep the spirit alive with their live shows and a very enjoyable DVD that can be relished again and again. The crowning achievement of the show is "The World's Most Dangerous Improv Game." The pair play the alphabet game, in which each successive spoken sentence begins with the next letter of the alphabet - blindfolded and surrounded by more than 250 live mousetraps, both on the floor and hanging from strings around them. This can't be missed. The routine itself is a riot but easily forgotten once the mousetraps start going off. How they can concentrate amid all that danger and pain is beyond me.

Extras include "The DOs and DON'Ts of Improv" and and interview with Colin and Brad. Each of these segments features more improvisation from the two without any real meat. The main body of the show itself merits repeated viewing.
