This collection of cartoons from the Alvin and the Chipmunks 1980's cartoon series includes fourteen of Alvin's greatest adventures. I can't say whether this is true, but I can tell you that there are in fact fourteen episodes in this collection. Each is around twelve minutes long and a typical example of the series. When the series aired starting in 1983, my sister watched it, and I managed to catch the show fairly often. I must admit that my memory was a bit kinder to this show than I was expecting.
As with most younger-skewed cartoons of the early '80s, Alvin and the Chipmunks follows a formula most every episode: setup of
conflict, musical montage, deeper conflict, and harmless resolution.
Apply this formula to Alvin entering a surfing contest, Theodore getting signed up to wrestle Ivan the Terrible (a wrestler, not the 16th-century Russian prince), Theodore getting dressed up as a space alien to appeal to those who love Spielberg's E.T. It's silly formula stuff in which dialogue like "Wait a minute, that's no space creature!
It's Alvin and the Chipmunks" can be heard.
If your kids liked the recent Alvin and the Chipmunks live-action
film, they may enjoy this, though it's not as well-done as the film.
If your interest in the Chipmunks is nostalgic in nature, beware. It may not be quite as you remembered it.
