Phineas and Ferb is a delightful show for kids on the Disney Channel. The animation hails back to an earlier era, with line-styled drawings as opposed to the overt computer animation that has become so popular lately. The Daze of Summer is the second collection of Phineas and Ferb episodes released on DVD. It's a fun collection, but after watching the 10 shows in a row, the storylines get to be a bit redundant, especially for adults and even for older "tween" children.

The background of the story: stepbrothers Phineas (voiced by Vincent Martella) and Ferb (Thomas Sangster) are trying to entertain themselves during summer vacation. Through a magic series of events, the boys are able to transform their home, yard, and surrounding area each episode so that they can experience exciting adventures - searching for pirate gold, visiting Mars, throwing a circus - all to the dismay of their teenage sister, Candace (voiced by High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale), who attempts to open her parents' eyes to the boys' antics with no success. To make things a bit more complicated, the family's pet platypus, Perry, is actually a spy named Agent P, who is chased by the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz in each episode.

Although Phineas and Ferb is a fun diversion, there's not much variation to the above-mentioned formula. The boys narrowly avoid getting caught, Agent P almost gets foiled by Dr. Doofenshmirtz, etc. But, as cartoons go, Phineas and Ferb is enjoyable and a fun adventure. The Daze of Summer runs almost two hours, so viewers get their money's worth with the purchase. My ten-year-old son really loves this series and can watch the shows over and over, but my eight-year-old daughter finds it boring.

Phineas and Ferb: The Daze of Summer is a decent purchase. Kids will have a good time watching the antics of these funny boys and look forward to discovering what amazing things they will do next.
