This concert DVD had the potential to be either syrupy sweet and unpalatable, or thrown together and not worth the money. Fortunately for the viewer, it is neither of those. It's a great way to experience the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert tour whether or not you were able to attend it in person. The behind-the-scenes vignettes and look at costume changes, choreography practice, and interaction between Miley, her family, and the large number of people who go into pulling off a concert of this magnitude is fascinating to watch.

The first half of the concert is performed by fifteen-year-old Miley Cyrus in her Hannah Montana persona; a "switch time" allows the (mostly teen and preteen) audience to watch the increasingly popular Jonas Brothers perform. Then Miley comes out on stage as herself for the remainder of the show.

The tunes are catchy, and my eight-year-old daughter was thrilled to watch the music up close and personal and to sing along with all of the songs she knows by heart. This DVD offers two discs: the first is a 2-D version, and the second is the 3-D version that played in theaters and on the Disney Channel. The DVD comes with four sets of 3-D glasses so that everyone watching can enjoy the experience.

Both my daughter and I had problems with the 3-D viewing. The glasses are cumbersome, and the entire show is not in 3-D, so a person is constantly putting on and taking off the glasses. It didn't seem to add a great deal to the experience, either, although my daughter did enjoy some of the scenes. We eventually gave up on the 3-D disc and just put in the 2-D one to finish watching. It is wonderful that the set includes both versions for a choice. The viewing otherwise is excellent-great colors and lighting, and very close shots so that you almost feel like you are there.

The special features include an 11-minute "The Ultimate Personal Tour" featuring an interesting and entertaining backstage experience with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, two deleted songs ("Good and Broken" by Miley Cyrus and "S.O.S." by the Jonas Brothers), and my daughter's personal favorite: eight songs with words across the bottom of the screen (karaoke-style) so your aspiring singer can sing along.

Overall, the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert DVD is worthwhile to watch and purchase. If your child was able to attend the concert, this is a fun piece of memorabilia. If not, it is almost like being there in person. For parents, the lyrics are catchy, completely inoffensive and appropriate for all ages.
