Originally aired on Comedy Central in edited form as a way to kick off a new season of his show, Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced is his newest title to be released to DVD. In this version, Mencia's routine is extended to a full sixty-six minutes, which gives you roughly twenty more minutes of Mencia than what you might have seen on cable.
Filmed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, Mencia jumps right into his race-based humor by riffing on Barack Obama and why everyone should vote for him. He then goes on to mock Black History Month, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Mexicans, guilty white people, the race card, the "n-word", overly-emotional super heroes, and gays in the military.
The shock value doesn't stop there. The abrasive humor keeps on trucking as he delves into vegetarians, Michael Vick, and his trip to Iraq (where he performed for the troops). If you're into this type of comedy or just a fan of Mencia's frenzied, frenetic style, you won't be disappointed. It's also safe to say that this isn't for everyone (some stuff will rub you the wrong way or just leave you cold) and definitely isn't family entertainment. But the hour goes quick, and there is a keen observation that made me chuckle.
There aren't any glaring mishaps as far as the audio or video production goes, so all is well in that depertment. The DVD contains a couple of extras: his appearance on MTV's Cribs , and a sketch from his Mind of Mencia show.
