In 2008, Disney released the movie Tinker Bell straight to DVD, capitalizing on the popularity of the ever-spunky fairy. The DVD was a huge success, paving the way for sequels, games, and even a special Pixie Hollow walkthrough at Disneyland.

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure is the first sequel to the original Tinker Bell movie. The fairies of Pixie Hollow are beginning to get ready for autumn. Tinker Bell (voiced by Mae Whitman) is tasked with restoring the very important moonstone gem, which will be put into a scepter to help replenish the pixie dust. But Tink gets into a fight with Terence (voiced by Jessie McCartney), and the moonstone is shattered. Tinker Bell feels that her only choice is to venture out to find a magic mirror rumored to grant wishes so that she can get the moonstone back and save the ceremony. She is joined on her journey by a precocious firefly named Blaze (voiced by Bob Bergren). As the two set off to find the mirror, they encounter danger and surprises, and will maybe learn a few lessons along the way.

Although Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure is definitely directed toward young girls, the humor - especially that provided by Blaze - appeals to boys and even adults. The Blu-ray presentation is top-notch, as one could expect from a full-scale Disney theatrical release. This combo pack includes the Blu-ray disc as well as a regular DVD copy. Kids learn the meaning of being a true friend, and although the message is strong, it doesn't come across as a "message" film. If your children enjoyed the other fairies in the first movie, they may be a bit disappointed in Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure because the other fairies just play a supporting role. Maybe Disney will feature them each more strongly in subsequent DVDs.

If you have a young girl, then Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure is a must-purchase and will definitely be watched again and again.
