My nine-year-old daughter is a huge Hannah Montana fan, and it's no surprise that she thought this was one of the best movies she's ever seen. It's a very sweet show, but definitely has more appeal to the 'tween and young teen set than to adults.

Hannah Montana: The Movie is like the television show on a huge, grand scale. Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) is the musical superstar alter-ego of everyday girl Miley Stewart. Miley is beginning to let her stardom go to her head, and she is finding it more and more difficult to keep her two lives separate - even when it means ruining her best friend Lily's (Emily Osment) grand sweet sixteen party. Miley's father, Robby Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus) decides that she needs to get back to her Tennessee roots for a few weeks to understand where she came from and get grounded again.

In Tennessee, Miley feels free and able to cultivate a relationship with her grandmother (Margo Martindale) and even meets a boy named Travis (Lucas Till) who strikes her fancy. But life away from the spotlight isn't without its trials, either. Miley needs to learn how to balance her life as Miley with her life as Hannah once and for all.

Hannah Montana: The Movie is sprinkled with the humor that viewers have come to know and expect from Disney Channel episodes of the show. The cast works incredibly well together, and their hours of work as an ensemble definitely show. The many musical numbers throughout the movie got a bit old for me as an adult viewer, but my daughter loved them and wanted to watch the musical portions more than once in order to learn the songs and sing along.

The Blu-ray format is wonderful on this large scope. The scenery, particularly in Tennessee, is gorgeous, and everything else is full of vibrant life and color. There are many special features and featurettes, perfect for keeping young viewers entertained and engaged even longer. This three-disc special edition includes the Blu-ray high definition movie, a standard version of the movie, and a digital copy for loading onto a computer or MP3 player.

Hannah Montana: The Movie is fun for the whole family; there are enough male actors and situations to please even the boys who may be coerced into watching. Some overall messages about being yourself and learning the meaning of home are universal and will strike a chord with all viewers.
