I have a very long way to go before I can keep all the personalities of the various ponies of Ponyville straight, but what I gather from A Very Minty Christmas is that, like Smurfs or Carebears , they are all unique and represent different archetypes. Unlike the Smurfs or Carebears, however, they don't seem to have any males or negative types represented. Minty, a minty green pony with a two-tone pink mane, represents the good-hearted, well-intentioned (as they all are), but clumsy.
When Minty accidentally breaks the Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane, the special tree-topper that helps guide Santa Claus to Ponyville, she must find a way to make up for her mistake. Rather than find a similar beacon, she flies off in a balloon to find Santa at the North Pole and hopefully keep disaster from befalling the Ponyville Christmas. Thistle Whistle, a winged pony who seems to whistle as much as she speaks, goes along to help her.
Together the ponies learn about the true meaning of Christmas:
friendship and love. Little does Minty know it, but she has created a new Christmas tradition. A Very Minty Christmas is a bright and shiny feature which brings Christmas joy and original songs to your DVD player. I have always loved this kind of show, and have, since childhood, piled them on to help warm my heart during the chilly holiday season. If your little girl is anything like mine, she'll love this. Now all I have to do is find a Jurassic Park Christmas for my boy.
