What do get when you pair famous faces from Disney's The Jungle Book - lovable Baloo, mischievous Louie, and intimidating Shere Khan - with modern faces like tough pilot-for-hire Rebecca Cunningham, precocious child pilot-to-be Kit Cloudkicker, and the wacky mechanic Wildcat? You get TaleSpin, and a cast of characters who spin their tales Disney-style for laughs that ring as true today as they did when they were first delivered nearly twenty years ago.

In running their business, the charter air service "Higher for Hire," Baloo and Rebecca meet more than their fair share of adventures and adversaries. With the help of their old friends and various new friends along the way, each adversity is met head-on, and this animated cast always rises above the challenge.

Disney's penchant for humor that reflects adult sensibility even as it relates to a child-based audience cannot be lauded enough. Each joke carefully made without the help of live action is something to be celebrated as it acknowledges what the child seeks and engages the parents or caregivers as well. Furthermore, Kit Cloudkicker is truly a child to emulate; he has style, charisma, compassion, and hope. Children watching him today can learn what their parents and teachers who watched him nearly two decades ago learned: to try, try again, and believe in oneself.

Disney's TaleSpin Volume 2 is sure to become a family favorite as it includes 27 episodes on three discs for nine hours of family viewing. Titles include "Louie's Last Stand," "Bullethead Baloo," "The Time Bandit," "Waiders of the Wost Treasure," "The Old Man and the Sea Duck," and "War of the Worlds." Each of these titles makes a nod to culture and cinema that can be appreciated by a broad spectrum of viewers. Additionally, "A Jolly Molly Christmas" has quickly become a holiday classic in this household, and I suspect that it will in yours, too.
