Caillou fans will delight in this compilation of four episodes, containing 14 individual stories of Caillou adventures running for 100 minutes.

Caillou is a four-year-old boy who delights in having fun and using his imagination. In Caillou's Family Favorites:
  • Caillou is upset when he breaks his mom's favorite mug but is excited to learn how to do pottery with his grandma and make her a new one.
  • Caillou finds out his teacher's birthday is coming up and plans a party for her with the help of his friends and his mom. They make cupcakes, a card, and a bouquet of paper flowers. She is very excited about their surprise!
  • Caillou and Sara enjoy adventures in the dark when a storm knocks the lights out. At first Caillou is a bit afraid, but with the help of a flashlight, they find many new adventures, including shadow puppets and chasing Gilbert around the house.
  • Caillou is disappointed it is raining and he can't go to the park with his grandma - until he stumbles upon a photo album and learns his grandma won a first place ribbon when she was younger. His grandma teaches him to dance, too, and they have lots of fun dancing the afternoon away.
  • Caillou goes to watch his Daddy's baseball game and becomes bored, until his Mom suggests he joins the players on the bench. He becomes the water boy and gets a tiger crest. Feeling like part of the team, he is both proud and excited.
  • Caillou learns how helpful big brothers can be and feels responsible to teach Rosie all sorts of new things. His mom points out that he is always teaching Rosie new things as she watches everything he does and tries to do it, too. Caillou is very proud of the things he teaches Rosie.
  • Caillou has many more adventures!
Geared toward viewers aged two to six years old, Caillou is based on research by child psychologist Nicole Nadeau. The stories and adventures of Caillou help children develop self esteem, confidence, and a sense of independence. For parents, it is intended to guide them in helping understand the development of their young children and in doing so help their children learn and grow. (See "Message to Parents")

Caillou's Family Favorites also has a PC game (Caillou the Paleontologist) which has young players using the mouse to pick up a brush and uncover dinosaur bones, placing them in boxes which are then taken to the museum. At the museum, players then click and drag the bones to create a dinosaur skeleton. Once the skeleton is created, a short film of the dinosaur in action plays. There are several dinosaur skeletons, and the game gets increasingly harder with each new set of dinosaur bones. There are also 10 coloring pages to print out.

Young viewers are able to identify with and make connections to the various emotions Caillou goes through as he encounters regular, everyday adventures. Caillou also uses his imagination very effectively, giving parents an idea of what is going through their young children's minds.

This is a perfect gift for those Caillou lovers who require access to "Caillou on demand." Caillou's Family Favorites is a great way for young viewers to identify with their emotions and peek into the imagination of another child just like them.
