Dexter . I thought that the serial killer-killing-serial killer premise was good enough for a television show, but after the initial couple episodes I began to wonder if there was going to be anything more to Dexter than him finding and killing other serial killers. I was just about to shrug this show off as a waste when the characters and storylines began to coalesce and the show stopped being a weekly kill-off of your typical baddies. By season's end, I was totally hooked into Dexter and his backstory.
Now that I was into the show, I looked forward to the second season. The big question was: How could they top the Ice Truck Killer? How was Dexter going to deal with co-worker Sergeant James Doakes, who was onto him? How was he going to juggle work and his growing relationship with Rita (Julie Benz)? How was he going to keep on killing and not get caught? Would he stick to his code? Into all this conflict add in a jaw-dropping opening episode where someone going scuba diving finds Dexter's favorite body disposal spot, and you have one heck of a season. But there is more. Another woman enters Dexter's life in the form of Lila Tournay (Jaime Murray). Dexter can finally release some of the tension inside himself and let his "dark side" be seen. Lila is a tortured soul herself, and she causes a lot of trouble for Dex.
Dexter: The Complete Second Season is a 4-disc set that runs six hundred and thirty-six minutes and contains all twelve second-season episodes of the hit Showtime series:
- It's Alive
- Waiting to Exhale
- An Inconvenient Lie
- See-Through
- The Dark Defender
- Dex, Lies and Videotape
- That Night, A Forest Grew
- Morning Comes
- Resistance is Futile
- There's Something About Harry
- Left Turn Ahead
- The British Invasion
The extras in the set are two episodes of other Showtime shows The Brotherhood Season Two , The Tudors Season Two , Californication Season One . There is also a Michael C. Hall podcast and a Michael C. Hall interview. This is an awesome season of a great show filled with excitement, tension, and visceral thrills.
