If you're familiar with The Daily Show, you've likely happened upon John Oliver - he's the one from Great Britain. We are warned that this performance will be delivered with a British accent, and that the words will come across with more authority than we're used to.

This stand-up performance originally aired on Comedy Central as a contractual obligation, we're told, though it doesn't seem labored. Oliver's performance is familiar and not altogether different from the kind of thing he does on The Daily Show. He starts off harassing us for throwing British tea into Boston Harbor, for without this petulance, we could be speaking with lovely British accents like his.

The jokes are fresh and topical, and Oliver is pleasant in his stage presence. It comes down to this: If you enjoy him on The Daily Show, you'll surely enjoy his stand-up.

I quite enjoyed the main DVD menu. Oliver's face sits in the center, surrounded by menu choices, and he talks on for around ten minutes about making a choice and what has likely happened if you haven't yet made a choice. Watch the whole thing; it's a hoot. Other extras include some of his segments from The Daily Show, an appearance at the UCB Theatre recorded for Political Animal, a radio interview with Andy Zaltzman, and Comedy Central Quickies, which appear to be cheap plugs for some shows you're probably watching anyway.
