Ghost Town is a wonderful new twist on affairs of the human heart. The lead in this hilarious and romantic "ghost story" is Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais), a dentist who's happiest when his patient's mouths are filled with lumps of cotton, preventing them from speaking.
Pincus doesn't like people much, but when a routine procedure at the doctor's becomes anything but routine, Pincus suddenly has no choice but to endure dozens of chattering people - but these people are ghosts. He can't simply shut them up with wads of cotton, or even close his door on them.
In desperation, Pincus makes friends with one of the ghosts, named David (Greg Kinnear), who just won't go away. David promises Pincus help with the other spirits if the dentist will help him. Pincus agrees - after all, he is locked in a world where he must constantly deal with people; the fact that they are dead is hardly a plus.
As he musters through his new partnership with Frank, he discovers a bonus in their relationship: Frank's widow, Gwen (Tea Leoni), is the one woman Pincus has ever enjoyed relating to. But caught amid Gwen's dead husband, her current boyfriend and the dozens of ghosts appearing to him at all hours and places, Pincus's ability to simply appear mentally competent is a challenge.
A refreshing look at love, ghosts, and how the two can go together, Ghost Town makes the perfect combination of dinner, a movie, and laughs.
