Seth MacFarlane is the mind behind such comedy wonders as Family Guy and American Dad , and he's made a name for himself in these ventures and others. MacFarlane's work is usually pretty good, with occasional groaners thrown in for good measure. Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy is made up of mostly groaners. It's a series of short, unrelated vignettes similar to short gags used in Family Guy . On
Family Guy , this sort of bit at least has a lead-in if not relevance.
On Family Guy it can work even if it doesn't always. This collection of unrelated tidbits with a title as a lead-in elicit occasional smirks or perhaps a chuckle, but as a whole it's not worth it. These bits were originally written for Seth's YouTube channel and meant to be enjoyed on the Web. I'm not sure what the market is for these as a compilation when they could be - I want to say enjoyed, but that's not quite right - for free.
I can say that the voice talent MacFarlane uses is fantastic. Seth Green does a great Matthew McConaughey, and Jeff Bergman does a great Fred Flintstone. MacFarlane himself is quite the talent, but I feel that at least in the context of a full Blu-ray DVD experience, his Cavalcade is best ignored.
