The crime-fighting guinea pigs of G-FORCE make for a cute comedy-adventure for kids that adults may enjoy as well.
Three guinea pigs are specially trained super-spies. Darwin (voiced by Sam Rockwell), Blaster (Tracey Morgan) and Juarez (Penelope Cruz) are joined by mole Speckles (Nicolas Cage). They are "managed" by human Ben (Zach Galifianakis) and trying to discover what the evil Saber (Bill Nighy) is up to when their team is mysteriously shut down. Shuttled off to a pet store, they are joined by Hurley (Jon Favreau) and Bucky (Steve Buscemi). The wee rodents learn that Saber is attempting to take over the world through household appliances, and it's up to them to figure out how to stop him.
G-FORCE is a very funny movie - silly, but endearing at the same time. The plot is more engaging than I had thought it would be, and my kids have already watched it more than once - a good sign of a movie having staying power. The Blu-ray is amazingly clear and it's almost mind-boggling to see the incredible detail.
Instead of the typical audio commentary, the Blu-ray features "Cine-Explore." Our family spent a long time going through it, learning all of the background and watching the special features during the movie, rather than all at the end. It makes for quite an enjoyable movie-watching treat.
Overall, G-FORCE is a delightful comedy, fun for the whole family. It's not particularly deep or meaningful, but it is good entertainment.
