DisneyNature: Earth is a spectacular visual offering on Blu-Ray. The picture is crisp and clear and gives viewers the truest sense of "being there" without actually traveling to the ends of the earth to do so.

Much of this G-rated video is taken from the BBC/Discovery series Planet Earth. If you watched that show, you might be a bit disappointed, as this is only a small part of that spectacular series. However, Earth is an excellent way to introduce children to a nature film-something Disney excelled at many years ago but that had fallen to the wayside with the animation boom of the past few decades.

Narrated by James Earl Jones, Earth follows three animal families-humpback whales, elephants, and polar bears-but also includes peripheral animals such as penguins. Although the show is rated G, a few things may be scary for young children; it might be valuable for parents to preview Earth first.

As mentioned before, the Blu-ray transfer is so phenomenal that it would be worth your while to find a way to watch it in high definition somewhere if you don't have a Blu-ray player. As with most Disney full releases, this 3-Disc special edition comes with a regular DVD and a digital copy for other media players (computer and portable devices), so you can take it anywhere and enjoy the gorgeous look at the world around you.
