*Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato in *Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam - Extended Edition (3-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)*After the successful Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock in 2008, fans of the show have been pumped up all summer for the release of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. This is not high art cinema here - there's a specific audience the Disney Channel caters to, and it's mostly the tween set, from about ages 7-13. My own children (ages 10 and 12) were practically hyperventilating when the television premiere date arrived, because they have heard the songs over and over on Radio Disney, as well as on the Disney Channel for months.

They were not disappointed, and even adults will find some cute, entertaining moments. The Disney Channel certainly knows how to provide fun family entertainment.

For those who did not see Camp Rock, it centers on a girl named Mitchie (Demi Lovato) who dreams of going to a summer camp for aspiring singers, but her parents can't afford to send her. Luckily enough, her mother (Maria Canals-Barrera) is hired as camp chef, and Mitchie is able to attend camp, which includes mentoring by famous singer Shane Gray (Joe Jonas).

In Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Shane and his brothers Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas) return to Camp Rock to help their Uncle Brown (Daniel Fathers). Shane hopes to continue the relationship he and Mitchie started the previous summer. But all is not sunshine and singing, because Camp Star has opened across the lake, and its fancy digs are stealing away campers from Camp Rock. Camp Star's main attractions are Luke (Matthew "Mdot" Finley) and Tess Tyler (Meaghan Martin), who used to go to Camp Rock but has changed loyalties. It all comes down to a showdown between the two camps - including dancing, singing, and a huge amount of showmanship.

Camp Rock 2 features some very catchy songs, and the DVD version contains two additional songs that the television production does not have. It also includes a rock-along version, which my kids have used extensively to sing along with the tunes. The Blu-ray, in addition to the great high definition video and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, also boasts some additional special features, including getting to know the Camp Star campers and music videos. My favorite song is "Introducing Me," which is totally addictive to listen to and it really gets stuck in your head. But there are many great songs to enjoy, such as "It's On!", "Fire" and "Wouldn't Change a Thing."

Overall this is a cute show with excellent dancing and singing. You can't help but cheer on the underdog Camp Rock campers and pull for them to win the final jam showdown. Some great themes of friendship and integrity run throughout the show, so it's great that kids can get a bit of a lesson without really knowing that they're getting one. The acting is decent, and while the humor is a bit cheesy, it certainly appeals to the intended audience. This is one DVD/Blu-ray that will be played over and over in my house.
