As expected, Young Justice is another excellent animated series from Warner Brothers / DC Comics and the Cartoon Network. This volume contains four well-developed storylines following the superhero evolution and subsequent adventures of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis.
Each action-packed episode weaves interesting plot twists that really capture and continue to keep the attention of the viewer. This is the perfect superhero series for children ages 9-14 who are looking to relate to their own generation's versions of superheroes rather than their parents'.
If this review was for only the animate series, I would easily give it between four and five stars. But, this review is also for the DVD as a whole, and that is where it starts to disappoint. With only four half-hour episodes on the disc and a couple of trailers for Thundercats and The Looney Tunes Show, this disc is really bare-bones. I understand the business and marketing need to appeal to a broader demographic by creating a volume at a lower price point, but Warner should have offered the whole season rather than just four short episodes, or combined it with another Cartoon Network animated series that appeals to the same age group.
Because this disc is so bare-bones, I would not recommend purchasing it. Wait for the full season , which will hopefully be offered eventually, and DVR the episodes from the Cartoon Network in the meantime.
